During the annual TIKKUN SHOVAVIM (& SHOVAVOT) many take advantage of this auspicious time to begin teshuva. But how do we make it last? The Chovot HaLevavot's next explanation for writing the sefer is because he realized that the obvious Torah law was not always the common behavior in past generation, and needless to say, in the the days after until today.
